About Time

Wow, life seems to fly by and it's over 3 weeks since our last post. Not good. Anyway, life's flying along here. Soccer and volleyball season have passed, with Isaac playing both. Our volleyball team got 3rd in the tournament up in Taipei. 10 hours of bus travel in just over 24 hours. But the busses are great and come with Karaoke machines. Our school hosted the soccer tournament here and our guys took second. Makena's baseball team got first place. They were really excited. Now it's on to soccer for Makena and baseball for Isaac.

The weather has cooled off a bit here. Days are still in the high 20s but evenings drop down to a chilly 21! It's very weird that it's mid November and we're still having summer. I have started skipping my Monday morning run, opting for an afternoon run up Guanyinshan, a mountainous little trail system a 10 minute scooter ride from home. There are tons of trails and good views. Janice and I walk it on Saturdays so I'll take some pics and post on it more on the weekend. I've also been running Tuesday and Friday mornings at the school track, listening to Jeff Bucknam sermons. Hoping Todd's going to start posting his sermons soon.

Probably the thing that's weighing heaviest on our minds is the decision about what to do next year. They really want us to stay but it's a real toss up for us for many reasons. Probably the biggest motivation for us has to do with my work. Putting together this science curriculum from scratch is a huge amount of work and having been through it once would make next year a whole lot easier, freeing me up to actually see my family and be more a part of the community here. I'd love to come back speaking at least a decent amount of Chinese but our study in that area is really on the back burner for now.

We'd really covet your prayers for wisdom because we have to decide in the next few weeks (I know that seems early but they actually want to know Nov. 1 because hiring for international schools takes place now). Please pray for this important decision (and offer advice if you have it.

More later.

  2. Hey guys...what an exciting time for you. When might you get another chance like this in life! The Zenky family says.."Grab life by the (nose?!)"..and God will surely bless you.

  3. Ditto Karen... COME HOME! We miss you! But it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we only get one life to live. We will be praying for you as you make this decision.
On an other note, Hannah enjoyed a day getting groomed... she smells so much better now ;-)

  4. Trying to figure out how to anonymously post a comment so the "come home" votes outweigh the "stay" votes.
